Carolynn's Corner - October 1, 2010

I know, it's been a really long time since I've updated our blog.  And it's not because we haven't been busy; it's because we are too busy.  OK, I'm too busy.  Or.......I was.  Now that the wedding celebration is over, I'm back to business as usual.  I want to thank you all (in case I missed anyone) for the very generous wedding gift certificate.  And especially, thanks for all getting together to make the "congratulations" photo, with the help of talented, Annika.  I will always treasure that picture.

It doesn't exactly feel like Fall, but since it is Fall, we will be learning about Fall topics - birds, trees, leaves, etc.   In just a few days, some children can identify birds by sight and also by sound.  The children are phenomenal.  The children love the plush birds that make authentic bird calls.  In the near future I will be asking you to help your child gather leaves.  We will identify the leaves, dry, laminate and save them to make our own Christmas tree (pretty novel idea, huh?)

The following are some of our favorite, current activities:
Trash cans are a big hit around here.  Some children are able to wheel the large cans from the street into the proper storage place.  Then we like to scrub the storage bin.  (See photo of Jacob with his little brush.)
The children are phenomenal.

After breakfast, we like to clean up.  Samyukta is cleaning the chairs and table.

Charlie had a birthday.  He is three years old now.  We all enjoyed his birthday cookies.

The power drill is very popular with the older children.  Now only does it help assemble submarines, etc., it also instills a real sense of power.  See Olivia.

Today we had a tea party.  The older children picked mint leaves from the garden, and brewed tea with hand-squeezed lemons and oranges.  We used our porcelin cups and teapot.  Too much fun. (Photo of Katie, Olivia and Gianna)
