We are on a major campaign to teach/begin an awareness of "name recognition".  My premise was that the children will be more interested in their own name and photo than any other means to introduce words, reading, etc.  In just a few days, they all do seem to be very interested.

I will show you what we are doing at school.  Perhaps you will have some random opportunities to reinforce these ideas at home.

In this "work" the object is to match a photo with the correct name.  Each photo has the child's name on the back of the photo.



At meals and at circle time, the children their place by finding their photo and name.

We also added a label with the child's name to each cubby.



This is what we are doing with the leaves your child has collected.  They will (sooner than you think!) become leaves on our holiday tree.
