It has taken me quite a while to get my blog up and running. But I have not forgotten the families who were able to donate their valuable time to help up put in our school garden. This photo shows the girls taking a break after their back-breaking shovelling duties. (I haven't figured out how to delete the duplicate page.)
Over the past weekend Dave, my partner, and I planted 28 varieties of tomatoes, 2 types of beans and cucumbers. We have lots more to do. In the summer we will have all veggies for sale/donation. (Of course, the children will have free range while they are here.) I will use the proceeds to continue our garden project. Until then, we always have fresh eggs for sale/donation.
The children have planted carrots and radishes in their planter box in the back yard.
Today, at circle, we played grocery store. I gave all the children pennies, and they purchased their snack (cheese, snow peas and pretzels). Griffin ate a snow pea for the first time (here).
We are now the proud owners of advanced (3-5 year-old) Montessori work (e.g. brown stairs, shapes in the cabinet, counting rods). This is in addition to all the work for older children on our new shelves. Thank you again, John Alexander, for installing these shelves.
Deiva's Mom, Leah, and Dad, Patrick has been performing music for the children at circle time for the pavet month - and the children and staff love it. Thank you Leah and Patrick.
Please don't forget to sign-up for the farm day trip (and potluck lunch) on May 6. Info by the front door.
I just found an interesting website, www.starr-ranch.org. There is a live webcam in a barn owl's nest. Some times are probably more interesting than others.
